Posture is the position of the limbs and the carriage of the body as a whole. Correct posture is an important factor in general good health. It should be maintained while one is standing, walking, sitting and bending.
STANDING
1. Stand with your head centered over the rest of the body.
2. Keep your back straight and shoulders relaxed.
3. Hold stomach in, chest out and arms loosely hanging at the side.
4. Bend your knees a little, but keep relaxed.
WALKING
1. Hold up the upper part of your body as you should for standing.
2. Swing your legs from the hip as you step.
3. Keep your toes pointed straight ahead and your feet parallel.
SITTING
1. Sit your back straight and your hips touching the back of the chair.
2. Keep your neck in line with your upper back.
3. If you are working in a desk or table, lean forward from the hips.
BENDING
1. Move with your back straight.
2. Bend from the knees to pick up things from the floor. ending from the waist can damage our back.
